Dedicated to the propogation of the Iranian High Flying Tumbler

The Iranian High flyer, is a breed of pigeon that as the name suggests, hails from the country of Iran. I will give a brief overview of the breed here, for more info go to the "About IHF" section of my page. There are a number of cities in Iran with their own styles of Persian birds and the birds often vary in look and style by city, some are not bred for flying at all but more for their colors and looks. The general goal when breeding quality Iranian high flyers is to produce a bird that can fly high for extended periods of time and has good tumbling characteristics, IHF do not tumble in the same manor that a common roller does, they are a vertical tumbler, they pull themselves upwards in the air ( like a helicopter lifting off) and execute "crack" type tumbles, some of the better birds are often a bit flamboyant in their tumbling and will throw in twists and other acrobatic maneuvers to really show off.

These are performance birds and as such have no real visual standard, their quality and value are judged by their ability in the air, this is not to say that they aren't beautiful pigeons, with their characteristic long tails, long primary flights, round heads and big eyes, they are a very regal bird that draws attention even from those who keep show type pigeons.

Click on the navigation links to your right for pictures of some of my birds, links to my friends sites and basic information on my techniques for flying, breeding and keeping IHF. I sometimes have extra birds available, there will be an "available birds" link on the right at those times. Whether you are new to Persian high flyers or a long time fancier, thank you for taking the time to visit my site.
