Ive been involved with IHF in varying degrees for the last 15 years, however only in the last 3 years have I kept and focused on them almost exclusively ( I do keep a few pair of tipplers and Armenian tumblers which are also very cool birds). It took a lot for me to part with some of the other 8 breeds I used to raise ( several of which I had kept for more than 15 years as well) I stood back one day and asked myself why I was keeping birds that i didn't have that same passion for? I couldn't come up with an answer so i sold out of 8 other breeds of pigeons and began to focus on my IHF. I do not look at Persian birds as pigeons, they conjure up emotion in me that no other pigeon does, holding a pure Persian bird in your hands and realizing that its lineage traces back hundreds of years to the same place where all life began is a powerfull thing indeed. Who am I to call this masterpiece in my hand a pigeon.. it is something more. I am of absolute resolve when it comes to keeping these birds pure and maintaining the highest level of quality, only the best will be bred as this has been the tradition for generations. Every year my birds grow in quality, as time progresses I will have a fine line of Persian highflyers to call my own.
I live in central California with my wonderful Wife, Daughter and Son. The climate here is mild. These conditions offer me the ability to thoroughly test my birds in the air all year without worrying about snow or other adverse weather conditions that limit fanciers in other regions. The exception to this is heat, in the late summer it does get pretty hot here, heat will zap the will to fly out of most pigeons.
Aside from IHF, my other interests are exotic cage birds, Falconry ( I have been involved with falconry since long before I kept pigeons) reptiles,Mixed martial arts, motorcycles and fast cars. I am a big fan of world music with an emphasis on the Australian Didjeridu as well as acoustic middle eastern music containing the Oud ( the Oud is what you hear playing on these pages).
I would like to thank my friends in this hobby for their help and willingness to share birds exchange ideas and offer advice over the years, especially Steve and Komitas Sogomonyan, Bill Envia, Atour Golan and Mohammad Kohistani. The friendships that a person makes while keeping Persian pigeons are as rewarding as the birds themselves, I look forward to continuing the friendships I have made because of these birds and making new ones along the way.
